There is a basic difference in being an employee and being an entrepreneur that in case of entrepreneurship, you are your own boss. There is no one above you driving around and telling you what to do and what not to do.
Here you need to be self-motivated all the time. This motivation will only come to you if you are passionate about what you are doing. The field of your activity or the business line you choose must be of your liking, your hobby, something you always wanted to do.
Here I don’t mean to say that it is better to do your own business or to be an employee. In employment, you have better financial security, steady income, lesser responsibilities, and fixed working hours. Whereas in your own business, you need to put in extra efforts, and longer working hours, and at the end of the day 24×7 you will be mentally if not physically involved in some activity related to your business.
On the other hand in employment, your performance or growth is governed by that of your seniors and the peer group. If they are not performing as well as they are expected to, you get stranded in stagnation.
If you are an entrepreneur, you will always put your best foot forward; you can lead by example and drive your team with the necessary motivation to perform at the best of their ability. In this way you can be in control of the overall situation and ultimately in company’s growth and of course your income.
It is not necessary to have full prior knowledge about you business. If you are passionate about your work, you will always find out the necessary sources of information related to your business. You can even hire someone who has the necessary knowledge in the initial phase of your business and eventually, if you have the passion, you will be able to gain the same or even higher level of expertise in that field.
One more important issue you should not overlook is that the first 1000 days of your new venture are your learning phase. You may face challenges during this period and if you overcome all the hurdles during this period, nobody can stop you from being successful in your business.
